Any fines incurred on the card need to be below three dollars in order to check out materials.

Loan period:
Books and audio boooks check out for 2 weeks.
Magazines check out for 2 weeks with the exception of current issues, which check out for three days.
Reference materials do not check out.

No automatic renewals.
No renewals on books with a reserve list.
Books can be renewed twice, over the phone or in person.  Books are renewed for 2 weeks each time.  Patrons may request an extension at time of checkout to accommodate vacations, etc.

Fines:
10 cents per day per item; $1 per day per video or DVD.
If material is lost or irreparably damaged, you must pay the full retail price for the item and a processing fee.  For lost and paid for items, the patron will have 30 days in which to receive a refund if the item is found and returned to the library.  If the item is found and returned after 30 days, no refund will be given.

Overdues:
Patrons will be notified by letter when an item is 3 weeks and 6 weeks overdue.  If the material remains overdue after 8 weeks, the patron is billed for the replacement value of the item and accessed a processing fee for each item.  If the item is still not returned or paid for, the matter will be found in violation of Iowa State Code 714.5 and the matter will be turned over to a collection agency.  The library may also contact local law enforcement officials to assist in recovery of materials.

Note:
  • Do not loan your library card or materials to someone else or use someone else’s card or materials.  Patrons are responsible for all items checked out on their card number.
  • It is the patron’s responsibility to take care of the items borrowed.  Materials should be returned in the same state they were in at the time of checkout.  If an item being checked out has been damaged, it should be shown to the librarian so that the condition can be noted and repaired upon return.
  • The library is designed to be an informational center and a place where one can study undisturbed.  Food is prohibited in the library. All drinks must have a recloseable lid. The director may give permission for special refreshments in the Iowa Room.
  • The library can request items from other libraries via the interlibrary loan program. The library charges $1.25 per request to offset postage rates.
  • If the library is closed you may return books in the book deposit outside the library.
  • Photocopying and faxing services are available at a reasonable rate.  Ask or call for more information.
